This policy explains how Sitetrail handles information in the Android app Online Degrees & Colleges (app.onlinedegrees.colleges). Contact us at support@sitetrail.com for privacy questions or requests.
Information kept on your device
The app stores assessment answers, opening-question choices, results, saved careers and programs, action-plan tasks, notes, preferences and purchase access locally. Scoring and career matching run on your device. We do not upload your answers, scores, report text or notes to our servers, use them to train AI, or send them to universities. There is no cloud account or automatic cloud backup of this information.
Usage measurement and privacy choices
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand usage and return visits and improve the app. Collection starts only after the privacy flow resolves that analytics consent has been granted or is not required. When permission is refused, unresolved or unavailable, collection stays off. Previously saved off choices are preserved. In Menu → Settings → Privacy choices, you can stop usage measurement and, where applicable, review Google's consent choices. Refusing or withdrawing permission does not restrict app features.
When enabled, Google processes an app-installation identifier, device and app information, session and usage events, approximate location derived from IP addresses, and in-app purchase events such as product, price and currency. Our usage events describe interactions such as starting or completing an assessment, viewing a screen, saving a course or career, sharing an invitation or opening a university link. They identify catalog items, not your answers or results.
Advertising ID collection and advertising personalization remain disabled for Firebase Analytics. The app does not request precise location permission. Advertising is described separately below. Google Analytics encrypts transmitted data using TLS. Stopping usage measurement stops future collection; it does not automatically erase information already processed. Information already collected is subject to the Analytics property's retention settings and Google's processing terms; aggregated reporting may remain longer.
See Google's privacy policy and Google Analytics for Firebase data disclosures.
Advertising
Free features are supported by Google AdMob banner and interstitial ads. Google and its advertising partners may process IP addresses (including approximate location), app and device information, identifiers, ad interactions and diagnostic information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. Assessment answers, scores, personal notes and report text are not included in ad requests. Starting with version 1.1.2, the app declares the Android Advertising ID permission for AdMob. When available and permitted by your choices, this identifier may be used for advertising and measurement and to recognize registered test devices. Firebase Analytics Advertising ID collection remains disabled. The app does not request precise location permission.
Where required, Google's consent message asks for your choices before eligible ads are requested. Use Settings → Privacy choices to review available Google consent options and usage measurement preferences. Permission to show ads is not treated as permission for Analytics. If ads are unavailable, free assessment results and course links remain accessible.
See How Google uses information for advertising and Google Mobile Ads data disclosures. Advertising data is transmitted using encryption in transit and processed under the provider's privacy and retention policies.
Purchases
Google Play processes payments and maintains purchase records under your Google account. The app receives purchase status, product identifiers and the purchase information needed to verify and restore access. We do not receive your payment-card details or require your Gmail address. Purchase information is used to deliver and restore paid assessments. Google may retain transaction records as required for payments, refunds, fraud prevention and legal obligations. See Google's privacy policy.
Sharing, exports and external websites
Sharing an assessment invitation sends the invitation through the app you choose. Exporting or sharing a report or backup sends or saves the information you select; backups include personal assessment answers. Keep exported files private. The app does not access your contacts. When you open a university, faculty, research or other external website, its operator's privacy policy applies. We do not automatically send your assessment results with these links.
Support and service providers
If you contact support, we receive your email address and the content you choose to send. We use this to respond and resolve your request, retaining correspondence only as needed for support, recordkeeping or legal obligations. Do not send assessment answers or other sensitive information unless necessary for your request.
Google provides advertising, analytics and payment services. Our privacy page is hosted with Firebase Hosting, which processes normal web-request information, such as an IP address, to deliver and secure the page. We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed outside your country by service providers, subject to their applicable safeguards. We may disclose information when legally required or to protect rights and security.
Your choices and deletion
- Use Settings → Privacy choices to stop usage measurement at any time and review available Google consent choices.
- Use Settings → Erase data on this device to delete local answers, reports, plans and content preferences. This also stops usage measurement; the privacy block remains until you change it in Privacy choices. Uninstalling removes the app's local data. Exported files must be deleted separately from wherever you saved them.
- Google Play purchases can be restored and are not cancelled by erasing local app data. Manage purchase records and refund requests through Google Play.
- Contact support@sitetrail.com to request access, correction or deletion of information held by us. Since there is no app account and analytics is not linked by us to your email, we may need additional information to locate a record. We will explain any limitations and respond in accordance with applicable law.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to object, restrict processing, withdraw consent or complain to a privacy regulator. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already performed.
Age and purpose
The app is intended for older school leavers aged 16 and above and adults exploring education or a career change. It is not directed to children under 16. Assessments support self-reflection and career exploration; they are not clinical diagnoses or guarantees of aptitude, employment or admission.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app or our data practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes requiring consent will be presented before the relevant collection begins.
